A Service Rig Driller (also known as an Operator) leads the crew with a focus on keeping the operation proceeding safely and efficiently. They report directly to the Rig Manager and are responsible for the crew when the Rig Manager is not present.
Operator duties include, but are not limited to:
- Operate service rig and delegate responsibilities and tasks to Derrickman and Floorhand(s)
- Report any concerns regarding well, rig, or equipment to Rig Manager
- Maintain rig and equipment and ensure that day to day operations are moving along safely and efficiently
- Transport crew to and from location
- Cross-train with Rig Manager’s job, to be able to fill in (if needed)
Minimum Requirements:
- H2S Certificate
- First Aid Certificate
- Blowout Prevention (BOP) Certificate
- Fall Rescue Certificate
- Fall Protection Certificate
